Logans is Sydney's oldest name in pianos, having started in 1920. This photo was taken in 1923 and shows one of the original Logans stores at Hurstville Square. Logans has always been a family business, with the fourth generation now involved in the business.
Today Logans service the piano needs of people throughout Australia solely from their Burwood location. This enables them to maintain the quality of piano preparation the business has become famous for. Logans has been in this shop since 1935.
Today's business is greatly diversified and Logans has a reputation for preparing and supplying other stringed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos and all styles of guitars. They also retail digital pianos, keyboards, brass and woodwind and a huge range of accessories and sheet music.
Great products, great service and great prices is the motto that has sustained Logans since 1920. Speak to the people you can trust.
Third Generation family member to own Logans Pianos, Geoff, like his father and grandfather before him, is a qualified piano technician and tuner. Much of the knowledge and experience of the two previous generations has been handed down from father to son, giving Geoff a vast knowledge of pianos, not only of instruments made in his lifetime but those of previous eras.
It is true to say the Logans have made "piano preparation" a way of life, not just a job. In 2020 Logans will celebrate 100 years of continuous retail to the people of Sydney. Geoff can be found most working hours at our Burwood store and would be happy to answer your questions and advise on the piano most suitable for your needs.
Over the past ten years Logans have taken on a new look and one of the changes has been sheet music. Bronwyn has taken on the considerable challenge of finding sheet music to satisfy peoples needs for all genres and instruments. Today Bronwyn is considered to be one of the foremost authorities on AMEB distributed products and can be relied upon to track down any and all sheet music available in Australia.
It's fair to say many people need sheet music in a hurry and Logans pride themselves on how fast they fill special orders for customers. All customers are contacted as soon as the music arrives or informed if distributors are out of stock.
Unlike Chris’ preceding 3 generations, he is not a piano technician, however he has a love of musical instruments and a solid knowledge of everything displayed in our General Musical Instrument section. He has visited the factories of many of the manufacturers of the products sold in store and has specialised skills, working on the regulation of guitars and violins. There is little doubt that Chris will extend the Logans trademark into the fourth generation and maybe beyond. For the best advice on musical instruments at great prices, talk to Chris.
Greg joined Logans in 1997 as an apprentice Piano technician. In that capacity he had a unique opportunity to do much of his training on grand pianos and be trained by true experts in the field. In past years Greg has completed further advancement courses and today is regarded as one of the very best at regulation, voicing and tuning of grand pianos in Australia. Although Greg now spends time on the road working on pianos, he chooses to spend much of his time in the store at Logans putting the final touches to grand pianos being prepared for delivery.
The most important part of a stringed instruments life is the initial regulation (or set up). Logans are very proud to have Aram working with us to set up all our new violins, violas, cellos and Bass. Aram is also available for ongoing repairs and set ups for customer's instruments. Aram is a violinist with an outstanding history, having won international competitions in both Russia and Italy as well as being awarded a Churchill Fellow in 2001. Aram has been making and repairing violins since 1986 and ensures that all Logans stringed instruments have a touch of class before sale.
